Thanks... I wouldn't normally ask but this piece is very close to my heart and I'd like tell you why;

On the 27th of December 2008, ~nothingeater died, he was robbed and thrown into a river, leaving his wife ~million-dandelions partner-less, and their daughter fatherless. Death is never an easy thing to come to terms with, but having a strong community can help make things easier. ~million-dandelions is organising a wonderful tribute, a book of bears to serve as a tribute to Misha and a keep-sake for their young girl to enjoy as she grows older. I was moved to tears yesterday looking through all the beautiful offers people of all ages and all skill levels have made. (You can see the digital version of the book here [link])

Having grown up for the most part without any decent kind of a father-figure, I immediately felt for their little-one, and knew that I wanted to make a picture that would convey to her the love that's in this universe for her, even now her Daddy may not be around to tell her personally. I took the opportunity to make another piece in a similar vein to "Lifting Depression" [link] But obviously a lot brighter and more playful :)

This piece was greatly inspired by my relationship with my Papabear, whom I've known for over a decade now, and to whom I'm eternally grateful for his love, encouragement and support, even though we've never actually met.

Thank you for reading. :thanks:

Biro, Fine-liners, Brush-Pens, Gel-pens, Coloured Pencils and Tip-ex. For anyone who may be toying with the idea of "getting back to their roots" and picking up real-media again, or even trying it for the first time, I can only say let go of the fear/hesitation and GO FOR IT! - I've never had as much fun working in Photoshop as I have making these last two real-media pictures. :)

Everything about this piece just radiates the heart and care placed into it. Each and every detail is so flowing and complimenting, I find my eyes following the contors only to be brought to new areas time and time again and then back out to focus on the whole thing at once again. The astounding work with real media makes this all the more impressive I do not think anything else would suffice, nor have the impact that this has. All the elements considered offer a warm spiritual sense, a kind of comfort and hidden strength, yet bearing a whimsical and vivid view of the world, never dulled by time as a child would see it. A wonderful piece that I am sure all will feel inspired by for many, many years to come. I wouldn't change a thing.
