Reclaiming Stolen Treasure

Magpie was so please with his recent find.. he could barely wait to get it back to his nest to add it to his collection. He was sure to win the heart of a certain female bird with this addition as the star of his sparklies. Little did Magpie realise that the necklace belonged to a vampire, a lady whom commanded the services of Raven, and when the necklace was snatched from her dresser, Raven was immediately dispatched to retrieve it. Magpie would be lucky to get away with just some ruffled feathers and a sore ego...

whew... this took a while... probably about 3 hours to plan and draw.. then about another 8 to colour... tried some new techniques here, starting off with bold lines like usual but applying the colour to the same level (so the birds are all on one layer), and working the lines into the colour... so it's kinda half line-less and half not.. lol.. I'm sure the technique needs refining a little, but on the whole I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. The background isn't exactly what I'd imagined.. I was originally planning to add detail of the vampire's castle benieth which would have been pretty neat, but in the end I couldn't be bothered to draw it and didn't want a background that would detract from the birds.
