Dragon-dude Sculpt WIP by Kat-Nicholson Dragon-dude Sculpt WIP by Kat-Nicholson
UPDATE:FINISHED!

----
A couple of W.I.P snapshots of a 3D piece that I actually started back in 2002, but has been sat unfinished in my studio until last Friday. It started out as a sculpt for college, of my Alien-warrior girl, Ash; [link] but since I missed the deadline on the project I had little enthusiasm to finish the sculpt, so over the years I've added/changed bits a little, until Friday I suddenly got an urge to sculpt and the inspiration I needed to get the bulk of this dragon guy made up ... he's very loosely based on my were-dragon Gavyn, but this has become an exercise in construction/sculpting practice more than character or anatomy.... maybe I'll finish it someday, but sculpting anything takes me so damn long! x.X

I'm very much feeling my way in the dark with sculpting, so if anyone has any hints or tips I'll gladly heed them!

(and yes, for the geeks who've spotted it, that is - or at least will be, a Klingon-style bat'leth he's holding once it's done!)

2 grades of Milliput (grey and white) over a plasticine, wire and Styrofoam base.

Sometimes it's better just to dive right in the way you did. :)

Oooh he's cool, look at the feet detail! His spine has a very pleasing shape, it feels solid like there's enough room for his organs.

Can't offer you too much in the way of crit as I'm a sculpt noob! All I could say is his forearm looks a little bit short, though his upper arms are perfect.

lol @ sculpt noob... you and me both, chick! -Cheers for the comments, and mostly for the feedback on his forearms... they do look a little short don't they? .. and the angle that these were taken from doesn't help :/ ... mm.. s'gonna be tricky to fix that, since the armature is not really amendable at this stage in the sculpting, but maybe if I add s'more material to the backs of his elbows it might help to trick people into thinking they look longer than they are or something! lol .. I'll have a play anyway. Cheers again babe! :)

thank you! That's very encouraging, I don't have much confidence in my sculpting (compared to my 2D art) so I really appreciate your support :)
